ComicLink March Focused Auction Ending Soon

The ComicLink March Focused Auction starts closing today, starting at 8pm Eastern Time, with thousands of comic book and original comic art lots on the auction block.

 

“There are over 600 Golden Age comic books to choose from! There a over 1600 key and high-grade Silver and early Bronze Age comic books graded by CGC -- half of these close today!   There are over 1,600 late Bronze and Modern Age lots graded by CGC up for grabs! There are over 500 additional assorted comic book lots, both individually graded and grouped.”  says Consignment Director Douglas Gillock. There are also over 250 affordable original art lots within this auction -- but don’t forget to check out the Spring Featured Auction preview for higher end art! To sum it up, there is something for just about every collecting focus. With such quantity and variety offered, we expect this auction to draw strong bidder participation. Every lot is offered with no reserve, so that will only add to the excitement.”

 

Just a few of the Silver Age comic books offered in this auction include: Early Silver keys such as Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 4.0, Avengers #1 CGC 6.0 (and others), Brave and the Bold #28 CGC 5.0, Journey Into Mystery #83 CGC 4.5, Strange Tales #110 CGC 7.0, Tales of Suspense #39 CGC 3.5, Tales to Astonish #35 CGC 8.0, X-men #1 CGC 3.5 and a coverless Amazing Fantasy #15. Additionally, high-grade grade Silver Age keys such as Fantastic Four Annual #1 CGC 9.6, Fantastic Four #3 & 12 in CGC 8.5, #45 CGC 9.2, #46 CGC 9.6 Green River, Avengers #57 CGC 9.4, Journey Into Mystery #112 CGC 9.2, and Tales of Suspense #49 CGC 9.0 grace the auction, along with many others. Runs of major titles are present, including Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers and Fantastic Four. There are many high-grade Bronze Age and Modern Age keys present. in these, as well as other, conditions: Giant-Size X-Men #1 CGC 9.8, Green Lantern #76 CGC 9.4, Hulk #181 CGC 9.0, Iron Man #55 CGC 9.4, Marvel Premiere #15 CGC 9.6, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 9.4 (and 8.5) and Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.8. The second half of the #1 Registry Set for Captain America (#161-200 in CGC 9.8) is also offered in this auction as well as nearly 200 newly graded Silver and Bronze examples from the  Marvel Art Review Collection.

 

The Golden Age section of this auction is one of the largest we have ever offered in a Focused Auction and includes several significant runs, including ones for Batman (such as #18 CGC 4.5 and #42 CGC 5.0) and Superman (such as #33 CGC 8.0 and #56 CGC 7.0). Many of the examples in this session come from the Jamie Graham/Graham Crackers Comics collection which includes not only some of the most important series of the 1940s and 50s, but also some tough-to-find rarities and stand-out covers. Mystic Comics #10 CGC 4.0 (WWII concentration camp cover), America’s Best Comics #2 CGC 5.0 (WWII cover), Ace Comics #11 CGC 3.0 (1938, 1st Phantom), Captain Marvel Jr. #4 CGC 4.5 (Classic Raboy cover), and Champ Comics #15 CGC 6.5 (2nd highest) come to mind, but these are just the tip of the iceberg!

 

The Original Art segment of this auction includes work by esteemed creators such as Frank Frazetta, John Buscema, George Perez, Gene Colan, Kevin Eastman, Don Heck, Carmine Infantino, Ron Lim, Curt Swan, John Totleben, George Tuska, and many more! This offering focuses on more accessible art and there is a nice variety of eras offered.
