Pedigree's Grand Auction Closes March 22

“This auction is easily one of Pedigree’s best ones ever and has just under 500 high grade CGC-certified Marvels and DCs from the Silver and Bronze Ages plus some choice Golden Age keys,” said company President and CEO Doug Schmell.

There is no buyer’s premium on any of the lots in the auction, almost all of which (over 95%) carry no reserve. Every listing is CGC-certified, and the minimum bid is $100.

High Grade Early Silver Age Marvel Keys
Schmell said, “There are some unbelievable Silver Age Marvel keys in the auction, including Avengers #1 in 9.4 with white pages from the Northland pedigree, Avengers #4 in 9.6, Daredevil #1 in 9.4, Fantastic Four #1 in 7.5 Signature Series, Fantastic Four #2 in 9.6 (highest certified copy), Fantastic Four #4 in 9.4 (white pages), Fantastic Four #5 in 9.2 (white pages), Journey Into Mystery #1 in 9.0 (white pages), Tales of Suspense #39 in 9.4 and X-Men #1 in 9.4 with white pages.”

High Grade Golden Age
Highlights include Daredevil Battles Hitler #1 in 9.4 (highest certified copy), Batman #1 in Apparent 8.5, Captain America Comics #5 in 8.0, Marvel Comics #1 in Apparent 9.2 Allentown, Superman #1 in Apparent 7.0, Superman #2 in 9.2 (highest certified copy), Whiz Comics #30 in 9.8 from the Mile High Collection (single highest certified copy) and Wonder Woman #10 in 9.6 (single highest certified copy).

High Grade Bronze Age Keys
“There are plenty of late 1960s and early 1970s Marvels to choose from, including many keys and first appearance issues,” he said. Highlights include Amazing Spider-Man #121 in 9.8, Batman #227 in 9.8, Captain America #100 in 9.8, Detective Comics #400 in 9.8, Doctor Strange #169 in 9.8, Giant-Size X-Men #1 in 9.8, Green Lantern #76 in 9.8, Incredible Hulk #102 in 9.8, Incredible Hulk #180 9.8 Signature Series, Incredible Hulk #181 in 9.8 Signature Series, Iron Man #1 in 9.8 Pacific Coast, Iron Man and Sub-Mariner #1 in 9.6, Marvel Premiere #15 in 9.8, Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD #1 in 9.8 Signature Series, Sub-Mariner #1 in 9.8, Tomb of Dracula #1 in 9.8 and Tomb of Dracula #10 in 9.8.

9.4 and Higher Runs of Silver Age Marvel Titles
“There are a bunch of great runs of your favorite 1960s and 1970s Marvel titles in CGC-certified 9.4 to 9.8 grades. Titles include Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk, Journey into Mystery, Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos and X-Men. These runs provide collectors with a great opportunity to upgrade on a lower-graded copy. The Avengers and Fantastic Four runs are very deep and constitute the two best ever offered for sale. Both runs have over 50 issues and include mainly 9.6 and 9.8 copies. Most of the books offered in these two runs are the highest CGC-certified according to the census,” he said.

New Marvels and DCs from MegaCon
“This is an incredible batch of Silver and Bronze Age Marvels and DC’s that were recently graded by CGC, all purchased at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida a few weeks ago. The group contains over 75 comic books from many different titles, mostly Marvels from the 1960s,” he said.

High Grade Stan Lee Signature Series
“This is an amazing group of ultra high grade CGC Signature Series, one of the best ever offered for sale, and includes many highest certified copies. The books were just added a day or two prior to the auction commencement. Many of them have never been offered for sale before and all are listed without a reserve. Almost every book is a 9.4 or higher with many 9.6 and 9.8 examples,” Schmell said.
