Oldmilwaukee6er's Zap Comix Collection

Zap Comix is the single greatest anthology comic of the 20th century! Zap #1 is THE BOOK that started the avant garde underground comix movement coalescing in San Francisco, CA c. 1968-1973. Underground comix took back the ground lost in the 1950's, including the most egregious visuals that led to Wertham's and Kefauver's witch hunts. Robert Crumb et al kicked the doors back open, enabled ASM 96, GL76, etc and a decade or so later much of what the independents did was possible.

There were 17 issues published sporadically from 1968 until 2016, numbered #0-16. Zap #0 is the first zero issue in comic books, and was published as #0 to preserve the chronography of art that was stolen from Robert Crumb c. 1967. #16 was originally included in the Complete Zap Comix Box Set (Fantagraphics, c. 2014-2015), but was released in Feb. 2016 as a stand-alone comic.
