Detective Comics #27 CGC 2.5 Sells For Record High

A CGC 2.5 example of Detective Comics #27 featuring Batman's first appearance has been sold by ComicLink for $270,000, the highest price ever realized for this comic book in this condition range. This sale not only exceeded all publicly reported sales in the same CGC grade, and beat the prior record for this book by $65,000, but even exceeded the last public sale of a higher graded CGC 3.0 by over $75,000 or nearly 40%.

 

“We are looking to fill want lists for buyers of this issue in many different conditions at many different price points,“ said Josh Nathanson, ComicLink’s Founder and President. “So, please reach out to us if you have one that you may be interested in selling! We also have buyers for many of the other major Golden and Silver Age keys in many different grades as well!“

The comic book sold to a private collector interested in obtaining an example of one of the most significant issues in the history of comic books. This record shattering sale demonstrates the strength of this particular book at this price point and it is also reflective of the market strength as a whole for key first appearance issues.
