Carson City Pedigree

Choose Pedigree: Ordered By

A smaller (under 300) collection of comic books accumulated by a tobacco and candy store owner in Nevada, these books range from 1939 into the early 1950s.  The shop owner stored the comics(and other periodicals of the times) in stacks of newspapers in shacks on his property, one comic per paper.  The collection was purchased in two lots by Mark Wilson and Ernie Gerber, and consists of many #1 issues such as Marvel Comics #1, All Select #1, Mystery Men #1, Science #1, All Star #1 and what are considered to be the best copies of New York’s World Fair 1939 and Big All-American #1.  The collection has identifying marks of “No. 1” or “1” written on the cover or some issues can be found with blue or red date stamp on the back cover.
