Synopsis:Ruth, raised by her mother after her fathers death, demonstrates an ungovernable temper. Ruths mother introduces her to Edwin, the son of an old friend, and the two young people fall in love despite resenting their mothers' matchmaking. One day Ruths father returns: he has been in a mental hospital for years. Fearing shes inherited his mental illness, Ruth breaks up with Edwin, has a nervous breakdown and is sent to a hospital. Dr. Paige says shes a disturbed case but not genuinely insane. After therapy, Ruth is released and will now marry Edwin.

Donna and Greg fall in love but hes afraid Dans photos of her mundane past as a "hash-slinger" will ruin her career. Donna gets the photos back from Dan and he feels betrayed. Donna realizes she loves Dan and reveals the truth about her background to the press. Greg is upset but Dan shows up and punches him. Donna and Dan reconcile.
